Men of Integrity Devotional

If you're like most men, finding time to do daily devotions is tough. Here is a good devotion that our church actually passes out free to the men. The small sized devotional features two whole months of daily devotions that can be read in about 5 minutes. The Monday through Friday devotions of Men of Integrity contain a Key Bible Verse, a devotional thought, a "My Response" question for reflection, and a "Thought to Apply" which is basically an inspiring quote that relates to the devotion. The weekend format is slightly different with a special "Weekend Wrap-up". All things considered, it is a great devotional for men. Naturally, you may find other great discount magazine subscriptions at theMagazinePeople.com.

What a day!

Oh my word, what a busy, crazy day! Today was the Graduation and Awards Ceremony for the home school kids. Heather and I were very busy trying to get ready for it. I actually couldn't get to the speech preparation until this morning, so that made it even more hectic. So between the younger kids fussing from over-tiredness, and all the husle and bustle, I am quite wiped out! My 5 month old daugter screamed like there was no tomorrow on the way home. Unfortunately, once she gets going, there is no consolation until momma nurses her. We ended up pulling over two blocks from home becuase she was gurgling and choking on her saliva. What a treat. Ok, where's my bed...Sleep...bring it on.

Fun, Fun, Fun

Ok, I've added a fun section to my blog. So far it has "Kevin's Trivia Challenge" and "Oxymoron List". The oxymoron list is just fun to read while the trivia challenge is where we can compete against each other to see who is better at trivia. Don't worry, the questions are pretty easy...me thinks... At least the first one I did was easy. Go ahead it only takes a couple of minutes to play. You need to sign up for an account first so that we can track your scores. There will be a new one every day. If you like this fun outlet, click on the "invite a friend" link on that page. Have fun! Oh, and I also added a "add to My Yahoo" link to make it real easy for you to get my blog directly onto your "My Yahoo" account.

Busy Day Ahead...

Well it looks like another busy day ahead. I decided to cancel an early morning allergy shot because I felt things would be to busy. Yes, allergies. I am basically allergic to every kind of raw fruit and vegetable. Bummer, eh? Was it just a childhood ploy to get out of eating "what's good for you" and has now carried into my adult life? No. I found out that these allergies are simply the result of my basic allergy to trees. Don't ask me how they make the connection, but that's what the doctor said. Apparently only a small percentage of people who have allergies to trees actually manifest an allergy to fruits and vegetables. So, no watermelon, strawberries, and kiwi for me. So that is why I am getting the shots...to the end that maybe one day I can incorporate the raw fruit and vegetables back into my diet. So...back to the busy-ness topic. Today is the Graduation and Awards Ceremony practice for the homeschoolers. We do a little barbeque while we're at it. There's only 20 kids this year, so things should go pretty smoothly. Then this afternoon I need to make the programs for the ceremony and prepare a speech. Ah yes, public speeking. Did you know that the number one rated fear is public speaking? Second to that is the fear of death. So that means that you are better off in the coffin that giving the eulogy at a funeral! (lol) Enough rambling.

I'm Actually Enjoying This...

Ok I'm actually enjoying this blogger stuff. I think that everyone should have a blog. Just go to Blogger.com and start your own for free. Call it anything you like. If the name is taken, keep trying until you get one that is original. They have templates all in place, so all you have to do is choose the style you like. You can literally be set up and blogging in 10-15 minutes. Ok, I took about 30 minutes because I added my own template, but hey it was pretty easy regardless. Once you get set up, you can start posting your daily thoughts. Very cool, and a nice way for people to keep in touch with you. I think you can even upload pictures! (I will try the picutres out myself just to make sure here in a couple of days...) So....Get Ready, Get Set, BLOG

Home School

One of my other many tasks is that of a homeschool administrator. I oversee about 20 students. Ordering curriculum, keeping records, etc. One of the big tasks this time of year is the Graduation and Awards Ceremony. We have the kids that are graduating march the isle, and others receive awards for completion of their work and high grade point averages. It's fun. I usually give trophies out for all the categories, but this year I decided to do some with medals. I know my own kids have many trophies from school and their dressers are just full of them. So hopefully some moms will be happy to have something that can eventually be placed in a drawer. This Wednesday we will have a ceremony practice and barbeque. My favorite....eating that is. Hambugers on the grill, and ice cream sandwiches afterward. Hopefully it won't rain! This morning I awoke to my new personal schedule. Get up at 5, Pray and read the Bible first...for an hour. Then walk the dog and try to do some other excercising. I started off easy with the physical stuff. Only a few push ups and sit-up things. I am such an office chair potato! Ah well, the dog needs it and so do I. There was a day (back in my youthful, teenage, I can do the splits, kick your butt with Karate days) when I was more flexible, strong, and health conscious. Well it's time to take off those extra pounds, so I need to do something about it, right?

Not much to say...

This weekend has been pretty quite; therefore I don't have much to say. Yesterday was very sunny and hot, so I took the opportunity to mow the lawn. Church today was good. The pastor preached a great message on how Christians, of all people, should be people of joy though we live in a world that is full of stress, anxiety, and depression. Many people seemed to be touched by the message and some even felt the liberty to dance before the Lord. It was good. After the service was over, I was tasked with helping one lady install a program on her laptop. Some people think I am some sort of computer wiz, but nothing can be further from the truth. I have some brother-in-laws, who are much more computer savvy than I. One of which is the owner of I-M Technology in Norwich, CT. At any rate, we had a friend of ours over for supper as her husband has been away on business for four weeks, been home for a week, and is now gone again for another four. They have 6 kiddos, so we feel it is important to be there for her during this difficult time.
